Back to Rotary 2010 business! President's Piece, 24/01/2010
Hello Members and Friends of Rotary, It's already Sunday Afternoon again and it's Rotary Bulletin time! My daughter had asked me to go to the cinemas to watch the new movie Avetar, so I will quickly type up this weeks newsletter and make the screening (hopefully). By the way please go and see the film "It's Complicated" it's very funny! Now Let's start from the very beginning (no I'm not singing Do Re Mi), Last Tuesday Greg Jenkins, myself & Len attended a RYLA dinner at the Colloroy Centre to meet up with our candidate Maratana Saparamadu. Well, what can I say, we certainly have selected a great representative to sponsor this year. Thank you to Greg who made this marvellous selection, she will be a great asset to our Club as well as Rotary. Please see below a picture taken last Tuesday night, and there was a very informative Guest speaker David Murphy, one of our past members, who gave a great account on how the RYLA program helped him in his path. This Tuesday is Australia Day, and there is no meeting but I do hope you all join in some great Australia Day Celebration. This Tuesday I will be Singing Anthems, one at the Ryde Council Citizenship and the other at the North Ryde Commons Concert at 6pm. The Beatnix are the special entertainment for the evening. So if you have nothing to do come and join us here, no doubt Len & myself will end up with Vic Tagg and other friends at the North Ryde RSL after the concert finishes, it's becoming traditional! Don't forget to come to the Health Seminars that are being held at Macquarie Uni Starting this Thursday night as well as the expo on Sunday. More information on the website www.frankdominello.org . The series of health seminars is the brainchild of our new member MIllie Booth which our Club is endorsing, with new members, Trina Mosley and myself and amongst others have helped Millie get this off the ground. Still tickets left to attend. Just ring Trina or myself. All details are on the website mentioned. I have received 10 replies for the Carols Thank you BBQ, which will take place at Rob Wilkinson's Home on Friday 5th Feb. Could you all please RSVP so we can get this all organised. Thank you to Shayne who will attempt again to organise our members, new members BBQ on Sunday 28th Feb at Commandment Rock Lane Cove Park. You would have all received your invite via my email. Don't forget the conference is on the 18th, 19th, 20th March at Port Macquarie, and we have a good turn up from our Club attending, should be a real hoot! I mean we will be well behaved wont we???. Also I have been invited to sing in The Rotary Choir for the opening and other spots, so I have started choir practice with other talented Rotarians, thanks to David Rands & John Cameron who directed the email to me! so I'm committed every Saturday afternoon for practice, till the conference. They have put me in the Soprano (not the TV Series!!) but the choir ensemble. I better wrap up this newsletter, I am being tapped on the shoulder! see you all next Tuesday the 2nd Feb for our breakfast meeting. Have a lovely Australia Day, and don't forget to bbq lamb even if you're a vegetarian! Cheers President Roseanna G
