WHAT A FEELING! FANTASTIC CHANGE OVER NIGHT

Community Service, 27/06/2010

Hi again members & friends of Rotarians,

I did say last week that it would be my last news Bulletin as President, but New President Ross Rocca rang me this morning to see if I could do the Post Mortem on our wonderfully, fantastic Change Over Night that actually no one went to sleep! so I am reporting this as Immediate Past President and any other future news I will report under my new Port folio Community Service Director.

Oh Yes back to our Change Over Night which was on Friday the 25th June at the Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club. The food was absolutely delicious and special thanks to Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club on doing such a fantastic job on this. I will be using the word "fantastic" quite a bit in this newsletter!

We were surrounded by 74 "fantastic" people from our Community, who all had such a great time, that nobody made the excuse, that they had to leave early for another appointment! the atmosphere was precious and lots of awards & donations were given out. Our Club had a truly "fantastic" year and this was evident by the donations we made during the year plus the extra's we presented on the night.

Firstly on our awards, we presented the "Roseanna Gallo" award (this award was started up by Past President Shayne Dumbrell back in 2007) and he insisted to continue it (a gal can't say no!)

This award was presented to Greg Jenkins our Youth Director, who fulfilled his directorship to a  "T", and he was my choice as "Club member of the Year" please see below his picture.

Next we had our Community Service Award which was presented to an outstanding group of ladies from RASAID who for years have tried to get cluster accommodation project going for their disabled children. Please see the group below receiving their award.

We also presented our "Paul Harris" Award to a shocked Club member Leo Driesson our Projects Director. He truly deserved this award and then he shocks the New Horizen aged care facility staff later in the night by donating the rest of the money to the Trivia Night funds that we raised for a "Motomed" exercise bike. Leo made the announcement after we handed them the chq for $4,500.00 he then pledged $3,000.00.

Boy there was some tears of great emotion from this! Pictured below is Leo Driesson receiving his well deserved "Paul Harris" award, and below the group of recipients who all received $1,000.00 donation from Our FANTASTIC  Club.

Those Groups who received donations and were all present! on the night were

Salvation Army - New member Major Topher Holland

Riding for the Disable - Jane Newton & Jacqui Armstrong

Multiple Sclerosis Society - Mark & Becky Sims

Alzeihmers Australia - Brian Daniels

RASAID - President Jenny Rollo and the other lovelies!

New Horizens - who received $4500.00 plus $3000.00 from Leo Driesson

Musuem of Ancient Cultural arts - Winston Readford to accept on their behalf

Let me just wipe away my tears of joy, whilst I continue and finally we had the induction of new President of our Club Ross Rocca, who will no doubt continue and prosper in his new role as President. Pictured below is President Ross with now       Past President me! or as Winston Readford would say Past Glorious Leader!

Thank you to all those who had attended including the Mayor of Ryde Micheal Butterworth, MP and Honorary member Victor Dominello, Coucillors of Ryde Ivan Petch, member Clr Vic Tagg. Also to Ryde Rotary who is our "Grand Mother" Club, they truly commented on how it was one of the best Change over nights they have been too, as thanks to Phil Isaacs Immediate Past President of North Ryde who attended. Thanks to Juliet Perez from Chatswood Rotary who attended as well. To all the members of our Club and spouses, and other friends, special thanks to you all. WE HAD A FANTASTIC NIGHT!

See you all at Brekkie on Tuesday, and please read New President Ross Rocca's piece as well on this newsletter

Ciao

Past President Roseanna!
