Welcome to a new Rotary Year President's Piece, 27/06/2010
Hello to all members and friends of Rotary, This is my first report as President of the Rotary Club of Macquarie Park. I am honoured and privileged to be leading this young club into its fifth year. We chartered in 2006 with James Purtell as our first President, followed by Shayne Dumbrell, John Chapman, Roseanna Gallo and now myself. As I mentioned at our changeover, this year's theme for Rotary, as presented by Rotary International President, Ray Klinginsmith, is Building Communities, Bridging Continents. Rotary helps bridge continents by building communities, and helping local communities is what I believe our club does best. What a great Club Changeover we had last Fiday night at Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club! My sincere thanks to Immediate Past President Roseanna Gallo for growing the club and its profile over the past year with the help of the outgoing directors. She handed over the reins of a strong, vibrant and fun club at a well organised function. The new executive for 20110-11 was presented:
Youth Service: Greg Jenkins What a great team! Read Rosenna's report of the evening elsewhere in this bulletin. Tuesday morning will be my first meeting as President. I have planned a Club Assembly for the meeting. Club Assemblies are Rotary-speak for discussion meetings where directors and members review and plan the future direction of the club. So come along, listen and have your say. At next week's meeting we will have Raylene Jarvis, our new Assistant Governor, visiting us to help us prepare for the District Governor's visit on 27th July. See you all on Tuesday for a hot brekkie (Tuesday's morning temp is forecast at 5 deg!) Ross |
